This photo was taken during our Alumni Homecoming last October 3, 2009. I had been away for quite some time from blogging. Hope I still am welcome here at Ruby Tuesday. I had posted this last October 9 and just thought to post it again. It is just the perfect post for this theme as we celebrated our 40th year and we were the Rubilarians for this year.

The Day My Body Clock Stopped

For once in my life, my body clock stopped. On July, 2009, a high school classmate of mine, Marilou Locsin- Castro texted me if I would like to join them in celebratng our High School Homecoming on October 3. We will be celebrating our 40th year (Ruby) and we were one of the hosts of this year's event together with the silver and golden. 1969 was the year I graduated from high school. From then on, except for maybe 2 or 3 high school classmates, I have never seen the rest of them. I thought of it not only a hundred times but indeed a thousand times if I should say yes to the invitation. Will it be worth it? How would I feel in going back? How would my classmates whom I practically grew up with, accept me after 40 years? These were few of the questions that kept me from deciding yes. After so many thoughts, I decided to give it a try. In a few weeks time, I booked myself for October 1 with a return ticket for October 4 making my stay 4 days and 3 nights. Accommodations was offered by Marilou.
October 1st came. From the time I boarded the plane and stepped foot on the land of my birth, my body clock stopped. It seemed as if I was in another world. Everything changed. 7 of my classmates (Vicky, charet, azucena (who came from the U.S.) Marilou, Arsenia, Jasmine, Odette, came to pick me up from the airport. Right from the airport, we went straight to a classmate's farm where the rest of my classmates were there waiting. I immediately felt the warmth and sincerity of their welcome and everything that had been haunting my mind just all disappeared.
For once in my life, I had forgotten about house chores. As I had said my body clock stopped and indeed it stopped. It was fun time and I didn't care less if I had to go back home with chores left undone. I didn't care that my hubby was left all alone to cook for himself, clean house by himself. For once in my life, I thought of myself. It was just I, Me and Myself. Putting selfishness aside, it felt so nice to just feel only about yourself and not for anyone else. Sad it had to end on the 4th day. However, that is life. At least I didn't regret my going. My classmates really were so nice. 40 years passed and they were all still the same friends I knew from Kinder to High School.
To them, my heartfelt gratitude for the welcome that was full of warmth. For making my stay worth it.
To add to this, I would like to express my sincerest thanks to Marilou and hubby, Bert who was so accommodating. I will miss our smoking session. Like me, he is an early riser and in this wee hour of the morning, we drink a cup of coffee and smoke ourselves to death....ha!ha!ha!.
To Vicky, I would like to take my hat off to her endless energy. Driving us around, bringing us to all the pasalubong stores, driving us to our class adviser, Mrs. Linda Ledesma, our class adviser 40 years ago. Making it possible for me to have my one wish "Napoleonis" which I wasn't able to buy because budget was tight.

World's Largest Pool! (Thursday Thirteen #14)

Just the other day after so long a time, I opened my email and was amazed what was sent to me. I just couldn't believe what I saw. I would like to share this with you and let me know if you think this is pretty cool. This is the biggest pool I have seen in my entire life. And that it's already open.

Here are 13 things you would want to know more about this biggest pool:

If you like doing laps in the swimming pool, you might want to stock upon the energy drinks before diving in to this one.
It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115 ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water.
The Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside thesea in Chile as the biggest in the world.
But if you fancy splashing out on one of your own - and you have the space to accommodate it - then beware.
This one took five years to build, cost nearly £1billion and the annual maintenance bill will be $2million.
The man-made salt water lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile 's southern coast, since it opened last month.
Its turquoise waters are so crystal clear that you can see the bottom even in the deep end.
It dwarfs the world's second biggest pool, the Orthlieb - nicknamed the Big Splash - in Morocco , which is a mere 150 yards long and 100 yardswide.
An Olympic size pool measures some 50 yards by 25 yards.
Chile 's monster pool uses a computer- controlled suction and filtration system to keep fresh seawater in permanent circulation, drawing it in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out at the other.
The sun warms the water to 26c, nine degrees warmer than the adjoining sea.
Chilean biochemist Fernando Fischmann, whose Crystal Lagoons Corporation designed the pool, said advanced engineering meant his company could build 'an impressive artificial paradise' even in hospitable areas.
As long as we have access to unlimited seawater, we can make it work, and it causes no damage to the ocean.

"OVER" Manic Monday #12

Honestly, when I hear the word "over" it makes me sad because it may mean "over" of something that I may still want or over of someone I love. After searching, I found something to post that won't make me sad about the word "over". This one is something and it made me happy that it made me post it.

"Over" (cricket) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
In the sport of cricket, an over is a set of six consecutive balls bowled in succession. An over is normally bowled by a single bowler. However, in the event of injury preventing a bowler from completing an over, it shall be completed by a teammate.
An over must consist of six legal deliveries. No balls and wides do not count toward the six-ball tally. The captain of the fielding team decides which bowler will bowl any given over (subject to the restriction that no bowler may bowl two overs in succession).
At the completion of each over, the direction of bowling reverses, so that the new bowler will approach the batsman from the opposite end of the pitch. No bowler is allowed to bowl consecutive overs. Generally, the captain will appoint two bowlers to alternate overs from opposite ends of the pitch, until one tires or becomes ineffective, at which point the captain will replace that bowler with another. The period of time during which a bowler is part of such a pair is known as a spell.
In one-day cricket, bowlers are restricted to the total number of overs they may bowl in a match, and the length of the game is determined by the total number of overs bowled (usually 40 or 50 per innings and just 20 overs per innings in Twenty20). In Test and county cricket, teams are usually required to bowl a minimum number of overs per day to prevent spoiling of the game by a slow over rate.
A maiden over is one in which no runs are scored. A wicket maiden is one in which no runs are scored and at least one wicket is taken.

What really fills my day? Hmmm....a question that only I can definitely answer. Answers that can mean a lot of things. I know not all of you may be interested on what really fills my day but anyhow, I'm still posting it. Here they are:

My grandchildren are the most wholesome part of my life.
The sweetest, for they are the freshest from the hand of God.
Funny, "weird", and mischievous.
They fill my world with joy and good humor.
I, as an adult, live my life with apprehension as to what my grandchildren would think of me.
A life of defense against their terrifying energy.
A life of hardwork to live up to their great expectations.
When tucked up in bed, you are draped with a sense of relief.
In the morning, I greet them with delight and anticipation.
I envy in them, the freshness of adventure and the discovery of life.
In all these ways, my grandchildren add to the wonder of my being alive.
In all these ways, they help to keep me young.
Although they may drive me crazy, tire me out the whole day, pull my strings to the end, push me to the edge of the cliff, they still are my two beautiful grandchildren and I'm glad to have them.

Now over where I live is summer and it is pretty hot. Where some of you live, maybe summer too. Those of you who love the beach might love this too. So to those who love the beach, this is all for you.

Ruby belongs to the category of the costly gemstones. It is a red colored gemstone. Wearer of the unblemished ruby enjoys wealth and property and is blessed with children. Today, Easter Monday and our word
is EGG

Today's word EGG is one of my favorite food. I love egg very much be it hard boiled, soft boiled, scrambled, omelette or sunny side up. It is also a wonder how the EGG became the symbol of Easter. Here is what I found while surfing about EGG.

Of all the symbols associated with Easter, the egg, the symbol of fertility and new life, is the most identifiable. The customs and traditions of using eggs have been associated with Easter for centuries. Originally Easter eggs were painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring and were used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts. After they were colored and etched with various designs the eggs were exchanged by lovers and romantic admirers, much the same as valentines. In medieval time eggs were traditionally given at Easter to the servants. In Germany eggs were given to children along with other Easter gifts. Different cultures have developed their own ways of decorating Easter eggs:

Crimson eggs, to honor the blood of Christ, are exchanged in Greece.
In parts of Germany and Austria green eggs are used on Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday).
Slavic peoples decorate their eggs in special patterns of gold and silver.
Austrian artists design patterns by fastening ferns and tiny plants around the eggs, which then boiled. The plants are then removed revealing a striking white pattern.
The Poles and Ukrainians decorate eggs with simple designs and colors. A number of eggs are made in the distinctive manner called pysanki (to design, to write). Pysanki eggs are a masterpiece of skill and workmanship. Melted beeswax is applied to the fresh white egg. It is then dipped in successive baths of dye. After each dip wax is painted over the area where the preceding color is to remain. Eventually a complex pattern of lines and colors emerges into a work of art.
In Germany and other countries eggs used for cooking where not broken, but the contents were removed by piercing the end of each egg with a needle and blowing the contents into a bowl. The hollow eggs were dyed and hung from shrubs and trees during the Easter Week.
The Armenians would decorate hollow eggs with pictures of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and other religious designs.

How Fast Can You Go To Sleep (T13 #9)

The other night and a few nights after, I just can't put myself to sleep. I kept on tossing and tossing on bed but I still could not go to sleep (Insomnia). I opened my computer and tried surfing the internet to tire my eyes so I could sleep but unfortunately I wasn't able to. I opened a site which interested me that I could not resist copying it so I could share it to you or to anyone who has diffculty in sleeping too. To share it with you, here are helpful tips:

Eat a bedtime snack (A small, low protein, high carbohydrate bedtime snack, such as juice and cookies, eaten about an hour before bedtime, can help you fall asleep sooner. (Pizza does not qualify.) On the other hand: Studies indicate that foods with large amounts of the amino acid L-tryptophan help us sleep better. These include warm or hot milk (but not cold milk), eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, turkey and cashews. Try both food theories, and see which works best for you.
Avoid Caffeine, Alcohol and tobacco - It should be obvious, but some people forget that coffee is not the only drink containing caffeine. Tea (black, not herbal), chocolate and cola drinks are also high in caffeine.
Sleep in a well-ventilated room - Fresh air (we know - it's hard in the wintertime) and a room temperature between 60-65 degrees will give you the best sleeping conditions. Any warmer and you'll toss and turn from the discomfort of being too warm. Keep the thermostat down and do your temperature-adjusting inside the bed -- with more or fewer blankets.
Sleep on a good firm bed - A firm bed will give your entire body the support it needs to really relax. It's better for your spine, too.
Sleep on your back - It's the best position for relaxing, and allows all your internal organs to rest properly. If you must sleep on your side, do it on your right side, not your left. Sleeping on the left side causes your lungs, stomach and liver to press against your heart, causing stress on an organ that most of us find quite useful.
Get some physical exercise during the day - People with "mental" jobs, like office workers, have far more trouble with insomnia than do people who work physically hard all day. Even 15 minutes a day of exercise (at least half an hour before going to bed so your body will have a chance to slow down) will give your body the activity and oxygen it needs to help you relax more and sleep better.
Keep regular bedtime hours - Your body likes regular routines, whether you do or not. It likes to know that it's going to get up at the same time each day, eat at the same times, and go to bed at the same time. Not very exciting, maybe, but comfortable. So pick a reasonable and regular time to go to bed each night. And stick to it. Even if you don't think you're tired when the time comes. think you're tired when the time comes. Your body will appreciate it. And after a while when it feels it can rely on the routine, it will begin to repay the favor by letting you get to sleep when you want.
Don't sleep in - Get up at the same time every day, even on weekends and holidays. Once you've awakened, get up. Don't lie in bed awake, thinking about getting up. Just do it.
Get up earlier in the morning - At least try this when you're trying to set up your new regular bedtime routine. As much as you may hate getting up one-half hour earlier (or even more) than you really have to, you'll be that much more tired at night and more apt to get to sleep. Once you and your body have the confidence that you can get to sleep when you want at night, you can go back to your preferred wake-up-in-the-morning time.
Keep your bed a placet for sleep - Okay, and maybe for one other thing. But not for working, reading, watching television, doing crossword puzzles, or whatever else occupies you in the evening. Let your mind and body identify bed with sleeping.
Avoid naps - Sure, they're nice to do during the day, and if you couldn't sleep at night, you're grateful for any chance to sleep. But if you're really having trouble sleeping at night--and you're not a senior citizen who sleeps for small periods of time, skip naps. You'll be more tired at bedtime and more able to fall asleep.
Avoid illuminated bedroom clock - Try to keep your bedroom as dark as possible. An illuminated bedroom clock is a source of light that can be extremely annoying if you're having a hard time getting to sleep. If you can't replace the clock, at least block its light with something.
If you can't sleep, get up - Don't lie awake trying to get to sleep any longer than 30 minutes. If it goes that long, get up. Do something quiet and non-stimulating. When you feel tired again, go back to bed.

I have not participated for quite some time and I'm so sorry for that. I really was very busy the past few weeks. My hands were full of things to be done that didn't seem to end. Anyway, here I am now making up for my lost time. I'm listing 13 random things of did you know things:

Where did the term OK come from? - (a) OK stands for Oll Korrect, a jocular mispelling of all correct, coined in 1938; (b) the initials of Old Kinderhook, who was seeking re-election as US President in 1840. The OK Club was formed to support his campaign, but the vote didn't turn out OK.
In Yugoslavia, Turkey, Iran, Bulgaria, Brazil and parts of Greece, nodding the head up and
down means "no". And shaking the head back and forth means "yes."
Why do barbershops use red and white poles as their symbol? - Because aside from giving haircuts and shaves, barbers once did the work of surgeons and dentists - blood letting, minor surgery, and teeth pulling. During the blood letting, patients hold on to a pole in such a way as to cause the veins in their arms to swel and the blood to flow freely. This pole was often painted red to hide the blood spatters and when it was not
in use, it was left outside to air. Around the pole were usually wrapped white bandages.

This is my 3rd Monday to join Manic Monday and I seem to be having fun. It is not only fun but also very knowledgeable. Why? Because when you surf the internet, you find out new things that you've never heard before or maybe did but just didn't bother to know more about it. Like my post this Monday................

What is a Blue Moon?

There are in fact two definitions for a blue moon. According to the more recent definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month. For a blue moon to occur, the first of the full moons must appear at or near the beginning of the month so that the second will fall within the same month (the average span between two moons is 29.5 days). May 2007 had two full moons: the first on May 2, the second on May 31—that second full moon was called the blue moon. Note that the May 31 date applies to most of the Western Hemisphere, including the United States. In the Eastern Hemisphere, the full moon in question occured on June 1. For that half of the world, the blue moon occured on June 30, 2007.

The Other Kind of Blue Moon

An older definition for the blue moon is recorded in early issues of the Maine Farmer's Almanac. According to this definition, the blue moon is the third full moon in a season that has four full moons. Why would one want to identify the third full moon in a season of four full moons? The answer is complex, and has to do with the Christian ecclesiastical calendar. Some years have an extra full moon—thirteen instead of twelve. Since the identity of the moons was important in the ecclesiastical calendar (the Paschal Moon, for example, used to be crucial for determining the date of Easter), a year with a thirteenth moon skewed the calendar, since there were names for only twelve moons. By identifying the extra, thirteenth moon as a blue moon, the ecclesiastical calendar was able to stay on track. For a fuller explanation see http://www.inconstantmoon.com/cyc_blue.htm. A Star Rating for the Modern Blue Moon

Although Sky & Telescope calls the modern blue moon definition "trendy" and a "mistake," the fact that there is an older, preexisting (and more complicated) definition does not necessarily make it the more interesting or meaningful definition. Charting the "third full moon in four full moons" in a season isn't everyone's idea of an fascinating enterprise. The modern, "trendy" definition, however, points to an intriguing astronomical phenomenon—every so often two moons can manage to position themselves in the same month. Given that full moons occur once every 29.5 days, this is quite an accomplishment!

How Often Does a Blue Moon Occur?

Over the next twenty years there will be a total of 17 blue moons, with an almost equal number of both types of blue moons occurring. No blue moon of any kind will occur in the years 2006, 2011, 2014, and 2017. The more recent phenomenon, where the blue moon is considered to be the second full moon in a calendar month, last occurred on July 31, 2004. Two full moons in one month may occur in any month out of the year except for February, which is shorter than the lunar cycle. The other, older blue moon event, which happens when there are four full moons in a season, last occured in August 2005. Since this type of blue moon is reckoned according to the seasons, it can only occur in February, May, August, or November, about a month before the equinox or the solstice.

Twice in a Blue Moon

The rare phenomenon of two blue moons (using the more recent definitition) occurring in the same year happens approximately once every 19 years. 1999 was the last time a blue moon appeared twice, in January and March. The months of the double blue moons are almost always January and March. That is because the short month that falls in between them, February, is a key ingredient in this once-every-nineteen-year phenomenon. For January and March to each have two full moons, it's necessary for February to have none at all. Since February is usually 28 days long, and the average span between full moons is 29.5 days, if a full moon occurs at the end of January, it's possible for the next full moon to skip February entirely and fall in the beginning of March.

Once in a Blue Moon

"Blue moon" appears to have been a colloquial expression long before it developed its calendrical senses. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first reference to a blue moon comes from a proverb recorded in 1528:

If they say the moon is blue,

We must believe that it is true.

Saying the moon was blue was equivalent to saying the moon was made of green (or cream) cheese; it indicated an obvious absurdity. In the 19th century, the phrase until a blue moon developed, meaning "never." The phrase, once in a blue moon today has come to mean "every now and then" or "rarely"—whether it gained that meaning through association with the lunar event remains uncertain.

What I do know is that I have my own "wish" and that is......... that the world would be a better place to live in. Where everybody human being love one another and that there be peace. When this becomes true, poverty and wealth, hate and love, ugliness and beauty wouldn't all be differences because there will be peace, love and harmony all around. I know my "wish" is quite difficult to attain, but a "wish" is free and you can't be sued for anything because it is only a "wish". However if that "wish" comes true then that would be really something. What is your wish?

We all know what natural disaster is right? We also do know what harm it can do to mankind,animals and the earth itself. Below are lists of Natural Disasters:

Yet in 90 percent of avalanche incidents, the snow slides are triggered by the victim or someone in the victim's party. Avalanches kill more than 150 people worldwide each year. Cloud-to-ground lightning bolts are a common phenomenon—about 100 strike Earth’s surface every single second—yet their power is extraordinary. Each bolt can contain up to one billion volts of electricity.

Fruit Pickers Beware!

Fruit pickers beware! That red berry might actually be an infested ant's rear end.

This tropical ant of the species Cephalotes atratus is infected with a parasitic roundworm that makes its bulbous rear end, called a gaster, look like a juicy red berry. Researchers believe the parasites transform the gasters to trick foraging birds into eating the ants. Birds poop out parasite eggs, allowing the worms to spread to new ant colonies. "These ants, in nature, go out and collect bird feces," explained study leader Steve Yanoviak, an insect ecologist at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. The finding is the first known example of fruit mimicry caused by a parasite, he added.

Valentine's Day - is the second largest card sending and receiving day each year only surpassed by Christmas. One billion valentine cards are sent each year. The first written valentine is attributed to a young Frenchman, Charles, Duke of Orleans. From his confinement in the Tower of London after the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, Charles fought his lonely confinement by writing romantic poems or rhymed love letters to his wife in France. About sixty of them remain. They can be seen among the royal papers in the British Museum. During the fifteenth century, one valentine showed a drawing of a knight and a lady, with Cupid in the act of sending an arrow to pierce the knight's heart. By the sixteenth century written valentines were so common that St. Francis de Sales, fearing for the souls of his English congregation, sermonized against them. During the seventeenth century people made their own valentines using original verse or poems copied from booklets with appropriate verse. The Victorians took the cards to elaborate lengths, trimming them with lace, silks and satins and embellishing them with special details like feathers, flowers, Cupids and hearts, gold leaf, hand painted details and even sweetly perfumed sachets. The first commercial valentines appeared circa 1800 and were rather simplistic. Cards were hand-delivered. Until the mid-1800's, the cost of sending mail was beyond the means of the average person, and the recipient, not the sender, was expected to pay the cost of mailing. It wasn't until the advent of the penny posts that the modern custom of sending Valentine's cards really gained critical mass. By the 1830's and 1840's Valentines contained delicate and artistic messages. Valentines made of fine papers and decorated with satin, ribbon, or lace commanded high prices. They had pictures of turtledoves, lovers' knots in gold or silver, bow and arrows, cupids, and bleeding hearts. All of these symbols have become associated with love and lovers. In the 1840's the first mechanical valentines were introduced. By pulling a tab, a figure or object on the card could be made to move. Some had elaborate honeycomb pop-outs or various other three-dimensional features. Manufactured Valentine cards didn't appear until the end of the nineteenth century. "Penny" postcards, which were popular from about 1890 to 1917, were called penny postcards because they were mailed with a one-penny postage stamp. It was very "proper" at that time to collect and display your collectionof postcards and trade cards in the parlor. Friends and guests would often sit for hours, leafing through the album while they visited. The penny postcard became so popular during this era that photographers, studios, printers, and business were always trying to find new and exciting subjectsto satisfy an audience that was hungry for new ideas to impress their friend at home. To make their cards stand out, people often sought out real photographic postcards. Instead of mass-produced lithographs, these were actual photographs made with a postcard printed back. The photography studios often employed women to hand tint and color the black & white photo postcards. Some of the best photo postcards came from Germany, which was also famous for its detailed and colorful lithography. Popular subjects for these photo postcards were women, children, flowers, and young lovers, posed and arranged in an effort to portray the idealized virtues of the Victorian Era. A Mount Holyoke College student, Miss Esther Howland, crafted the first U.S. made valentines. Her father, a stationer in Worcester, MA, imported valentines every year from England. Esther, however,decided to create her own valentine messages. Around 1830 she began importing lace, fine papers, and other supplies for her valentines. She employed several assistants and her brothers helped market her "Worcester" valentines. As one of our first successful U.S. career women her sales amounted to about $100,000 per year in 1847 not bad for that era!!A purchased valentine became the most popular way to declare love during the early decades of the nineteenth century. We've seen a change from the heavy sentimentality of earlier days to what can best be described as a light touch. Nowadays a valentine usually accompanies a more elaborate gift of candy, flowers, perfume, etc. American school children usually celebrate St. Valentine's Day with a party at school. Prior to the party the children make a decorated box with a slot in the top. During the party the children distribute valentines to their classmates' Valentine's Box. Valentine cards are manufactured on an enormous scale today that range from the sentimental to sophisticated to humorous valentines. There is a valentine for everyone--sweetheart, spouse, children, parents, teacher and even your pet!

What Do We Women Really Want in our Men?

Let us look supposedly at these 7 given virtues, arranged in the order of importance to which according to survey, women assigned them.

Tenderness.

There can be little doubt that this is the quality women most appreciate in the men they love. And it is equally certain that it is a quality that is short among Western men - perhaps in men the world over. The trouble is that our society trains its men to keep their emotions under strict control. Seemingly this doesn't go well with the kind of outflowing warmth that our women need. Yet they want their men to be strong too. Indeed their idol seems to be the man who is vigorous and self-assertive as he faces the world in general, but becomes gentle and sweet in his relationship with the woman he loves. Are we women asking too much?

Courtesy.

Women often complain that their men, once courtship is over, lapse into boorish indifference. An example is a woman who said "If only he would show me as much consideration as he does complete strangers!" "When we are alone, he forgets all his manners." Bad manners in a husband's behavior toward his wife are inexcusable. But again, there is an interesting cultural conflict. In our time, women have asserted their independence and denounced the traditional concept of the female as the weaker sex. Is it possible that, in sighing for the gallantry of an earlier age, women want the advantages of both their new and their former roles?

Sociability.

The wives complain that their men are poor companions. They come home from work and lapse into bored silence. Once the meal is over, they seek the company of other men or sit with their eyes glued to TV. The most bitter complaints are from wives who say that their husbands are scintillating when they are with other people but utterly dull at home. The unhappy women do not ask why they lack the capacity to draw out the social graces that their husbands undeniably possess.

Understanding.

How delighted a woman is when her husband anticipates her every need, remembers anniversaries of important occasions and gives her exactly what she wants for her birthday! What wives are seekiing here is recognition of their womanhood, and of the difference this implies. The woman knows that her basic role in her relationship with her husband, from the most superficial to the deepest levels is that of response. Unless he can act in ways that bring out her responsiveness, she cannot function as a woman. Therefore, she wants to be assured that he recognizes her femininity and understands the peculiarities of temperament and mood that go with.

Fairness.

Many wives complain that their husbands keep them short of money while making liberal provision for their own indulgences. Or that they grumble about the quality of the food or the furnishing of the home, without seeming to realize that the wife is doing all that can be done with the allowance she is given. What lies behind this complaint, I think is the feeling many wives have that their husbands unconsciously treat them as inferior beings or that they exercise their role as head of the house unjustly.

Loyalty.

One wife puts it like this: When my husband and I are out with others, he is continually making fun of me, ridiculing me, humiliating me. That doesn't make a good marriage. Another complains that her husband criticizes her in front of the children. Women have traditionally been in a vulnerable position in relation to their men, who have usually been physically stronger, economically and socially more powerful. Thus, it has always been important for a wife to feel that her husband won't let her down.

Honesty.

The wife who catches her husband concealing the truth from her can no longer feel secure. If she knows he lies, she is soon wondering what he is doing, where he is going and whom he is seeing when he is out of her sight. Her real fear is that there may be some other woman in his life. A close relationship like marriage becomes unworkable if it is not based on truthful and straightforward communication between husband and wife.

These, in the opinion of women, according to survey are the virtues they would look for in a husband. It is interesting that the qualities they listed are of two different types. the first four are concerned with the man's attitude and approach to his wife. The last three are concerned with the man himslf - his integrity, his character. The two kinds of qualities are, however closely linked. It is inconceivable that a man who is by nature unjust, unreliable and dishonest could in any real and sustained way be tender, courteous, companionable and understanding toward his wife. If the women had approached the problem objectively, they might have realized this and put character first. But they clearly responded emotionally, thought first of their own needs and then realized that only a certain kind of man would be able to meet those needs. These women are really saying that the perfect husband is a good man who knows how to express love. If all men were like this, most marital problems would cease to exist. For that matter, if all men and women were like this, most human problems would cease to exist!

Did we all have a nice weekend? Did we all get that rest we needed? Did we spend the whole weekend going on a picnic, movie, shopping or doing anything we love to do? These are questions we are asked by friends and at times we also ask ourselves. Sometimes all of us need one of these. It's one way of releasing pressures, stress and exhaustion and freeing ourselves from the daily chores we regularly do. Doesn't it make you feel exhausted and worn out just to think of what to cook everyday, 3 meals a day? I don't know about you, but I do. Sometimes it makes me think and say...."why do we really have to eat?" "Can't anyone just eat when they feel like eating without having someone to prepare food for them." But I guess, this is an ordinary routine for us SAHM. Here in our Country it is unless with have hired cooks. For others I don't know if it's the same. Well.....for us SAHM when we have the opportunity to be free from all these, let us grab it for we don't know when the next one will come along.

Here is a poem that describes exactly what I mean.......

"A House Is Not A Home"

Have you heard of the song titled "A House Is Not A Home?" The lyrics of this song is very true and very touching. I like the lyrics because it portrays the true meaning of a home.

A house is just a building, a financial investment and a place that provides shelter. A home however is part of you. Your fingerprints are everywhere or shall we say all over the place. If you have children, their handprints and footprints may be in the pavement marked while it was being paved and still wet. Your creativity is painted on the walls and reflected in the fabrics and textures you have chosen. Your dreams lie just outside your windows, your goals just outside your doors, the tears you have shed have stained your pillow cases. Your loved ones are shown in a golden, silver, bronze or wooden picture frames. Your shelves ae filled with books that have aroused your thoughts and ideas and opinions. Stains of dripping candles left on your best table cloth reminds you of parties that you had. Expensive dinner wares and utensils tells you to entertain again soon. The plants in the garden are ones you have chosen, ones that you love and enjoy every time the flowers bloom. A home is a place where there is love, peace and harmony. A home is always just the right size to hold your memories.

As the song goes...A house is not a home when there's no one there but gloom. My home is not so luxurious as others may have, but ours I can call a home because there is love, peace and harmony. Everyone in our home try to understand each other's differences, try to give in when someone's at fault, we try to avoid heated arguments.

A tourist in one of his trip to Israel, was amazed to hear a young Jewish man recite his family lineage back fourteen generations. She reflected upon her own family tree and realized that she could only trace her own lineage back five generations. She concluded,God is the only one who knows my beginning from my ending.
Ultimately, that is true for each person. No one fully knows what another has experienced early in life, or what genetic influences may be brought to bear in a person's life because of the behavior of his or her parents and other ancestors. A part of each person will always remain a mystery, only known to God alone. Below is a very beautiful poem which I think we should come to think and ponder. These are very true actions in our daily lives. Many of us in one way or the other may be guilty of this. Let's check it out.
